Common: Congress leader Renuka Chowdhury was booked by the Kamepalli police on Thursday on charges of obstructing police officers and injuring him.
The Congress leader and her followers traveled to Chimalpad to visit victims of Wednesday’s fire accident. However, the police prevented her from going to the village, citing public security concerns. However, the former MP got into an altercation with the police and clashed with them. During the melee, Khammam CCS SI Giridhar Reddy allegedly had a bloody nose after being hit by Chowdhury.
Based on the CCS SI complaint, Kamepalli SI Kiran Kumar filed a lawsuit against Chowdhury and his followers.
This is not the first time Choudhury has had violent encounters with police. During a Chalo Raj Bhavan protest at Congress in Hyderabad last June, Chowdhury grabbed a deputy inspector by the collar as she was being transferred to a police van by female officers.
