31.4% of voters believe corruption has decreased in Telangana, CSDS survey

Hyderabad: According to a survey by the Lokniti Comparative Democracy Program of the Center for the Study of Developing Societies (CSDS), Telangana has the least corruption compared to several other states, with only 23 percent of voters seeing an increase in corruption in the state.
The survey, which sought to find out whether corruption was a key electoral issue, found that corruption did make voters dissatisfied and angry with political parties, but voting decisions during the election were not primarily guided by that view. In 12 of the 13 most recent state elections, voters believed corruption had increased since the last poll, with far more feeling the opposite.
In six of these 12 states, the ruling party or alliance got re-elected, and in the other six, it got voted out of power. Telangana was the only state where more voters (31.4%) thought corruption had something to do with it. reduced states. The survey, which has been conducted consistently around elections in various states for the past four years, has not yielded similar or more impressive opinions in any other state.
Among the states, Punjab leads with 69 percent who believe corruption has increased in the state, compared to 67 percent in Madhya Pradesh, 59 percent in Goa and 58 percent in Karnataka , 57% in Rajasthan and 53% in Gujarat.
However, the BJP government has managed to retain power in Uttarakhand and Uttar Pradesh despite a marked increase in corruption and people voting for opposition parties, according to an analysis. Likewise, in the states of Gujarat and Karnataka, the BJP managed to come to power despite observations of rampant government corruption.
The Telangana survey also found that 51.7 percent felt that the state’s road conditions had improved, while 84.7 percent believed that electricity supply had improved.
More than 60% reported improved access to drinking water. It also found that in Telangana, awareness of key government programs is very high, with 94.9% of respondents having heard of Rythu Bandhu, Kalyana Lakshmi/Shaadi Mubarak (95.8%); Amma Vodi and KCR Kit (93.2%) %), the 2BHK program (93.8%) and Arogyasri (96.6%), suggesting that these also played a key role in the K Chandrashekhar Rao-led government’s second consecutive victory.
