New Delhi: As voters will flock to polling stations on Sunday to exercise their right to vote in Delhi Municipal Corporation’s 250-member constituency, it sets the stage for a high-stakes referendum in what is largely seen as a three-way contest between the BJP , AAP and Congress.

More than 14.5 million people were eligible to vote in the referendum, with 1,349 candidates in the running.

Delhi has witnessed high-pitched campaigning by AAP and BJP, which has seen top leaders including Union ministers, chief ministers and MPs from BJP-ruled states take to the streets for door-to-door campaigns and meetings to gain public support. support.

Voting is open from 8:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. and votes will be counted on December 7.

According to data shared by National Election Commission officials, the total number of voters in Delhi is 1,4505,358, out of which 78,93,418 are male, 66,10,879 are female and 1,061 are transgender. The Municipal Corporation of Derry (MCD) has 250 constituencies.

The Delhi State Election Commission has set up 13,638 polling stations for the election.

The State Election Commission said huge efforts had been made by large numbers of election workers and security agencies to make the necessary preparations for the election to be conducted at 13,638 polling stations spread across Delhi. In addition, 68 demonstration polling stations and 68 pink polling stations have been established to improve the quality experience of voters. Adequate arrangements have been made for the deployment of troops.

Both the AAP and the BJP exude confidence that they will win the polls while Congress is trying to regain lost ground.

All political parties are campaigning hard for elections, and issues of urban cleanliness feature prominently in political discourse.

More than 200 public meetings and roadshows have been held by senior leaders and chief ministers of the BJP and its governing state.

The Bharatiya Janata Party, which has run Delhi’s civic institutions since 2007, hopes to maintain its winning streak, while the Aam Aadmi party, which holds a majority in parliament, is hoping to gain ground in the capital’s first municipal elections.constituency demarcation

The Confederation of All India Traders (CAIT), along with 50 other trade associations in Delhi, have announced their support for the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in the upcoming municipal polls.
