Last week, we discussed the grants available to Indian students, academics and professionals interested in the Fulbright-Nehru Scholarship. This week we’re focusing on the Fulbright-Calam Climate Scholarship.
Launched in 2011 as a partnership between the governments of the United States and India, the program aims to build long-term capacity to address issues related to climate change in India and the United States, involving scientific and technical research scholars from both countries related to climate research and climate research Come in. educate.
Fulbright-Calam Climate Fellowships study areas include, but are not limited to, energy studies, earth sciences, geology, environmental science, renewable energy, smart cities, agriculture, public policy, environmental engineering, and disaster-resilient infrastructure.
The Fulbright-Kalam Climate Fellowship is offered to doctoral and postdoctoral candidates as well as teaching professionals.
Below is a brief description of the various scholarships in this category:
• Fulbright-Kalam Climate Fellowships for Doctoral Research: This scholarship is exclusively for Indian academics enrolled in PhD studies at Indian institutions. Fellowships last six to nine months.
• Fulbright-Kalam Climate Fellowships for Postdoctoral Research: This fellowship is designed for Indian teachers and researchers who are in the early stages of their research careers in India. It provides opportunities for talented teachers and researchers to strengthen their research capabilities. Fellows have access to the best resources of interest and will help build long-term relationships with U.S. faculty and institutions. Fellowships last from 8 to 24 months.
• Fulbright-Kalam Climate Fellowships for Academic and Professional Excellence: This fellowship is designed to provide Indian teacher researchers and professionals with the opportunity to teach, conduct research, or combine teaching and research at US institutions. Scholarships are for four to nine months.
Funding Benefits of the Fulbright Nehru and Fulbright-Kalam Climate Scholarships
The scholarship provides J-1 student exchange visa support, a monthly stipend, an exchange accident and illness plan in accordance with U.S. government guidelines, round-trip economy class air travel, applicable stipends, and modal ancillary fees, if any.
Selected scholars will have the opportunity to audit non-degree courses, conduct research, and gain practical work experience in suitable settings in the United States. There is no allowance for dependents.
USIEF is now accepting applications from Indian citizens for the 2024-25 academic year. A selection committee comprised of U.S. and Indian subject matter experts and Fulbright alumni awards these fellowships to students, scholars, teachers, policymakers, administrators and professionals across disciplines in the arts, humanities, social sciences and STEM fields.
