New Delhi: Dimple Yadav, wife of former Uttar Pradesh chief minister Akhilesh Yadav and daughter-in-law of the late Samajwadi party chief Mulayam Singh Yadav, was sworn in as an MP at the Lok Sabha on Monday.
Dimple won the Mainpuri by-election last week, beating the BJP’s Raghuraj Singh Shakya by more than 280,000 votes.
This will be her third term as an MP for the Lok Sabha. She was twice a member of the House of Commons from Kannauj.
By-elections are necessary following the death of Mulayam Singh Yadav on October 10.
Dimple was accompanied by her husband Akhilesh Yadav when she arrived for the oath taking in the morning.
