Hyderabad: Desi hip hop fans are in for a real treat! Indian hip hop artist DIVINE has announced the release of his third album “Gunehgar”, which will be released today (10th November) via Mass Appeal India and Gully Gang.
As a follow-up to his previous acclaimed albums “Kohinoor” (2019) and “Punya Paap” (2020), this new 12-track full-length studio album features guests from global music heavyweights such as Jadakiss , Russ, Armani White, Noizy and Hit-Boy and local stars Jonita Gandhi and Wazir Patar.
Imbued with an unrepentant spirit of authenticity and vulnerability, the album revolves around the conflicting themes of sin and virtue, angels and demons—concepts that have been key undercurrents of DIVINE’s art over the past few years. With his new showcase, also thanks to the music production of Karan Kanchan and Phenom, DIVINE has delivered what could be the record of the year, effortlessly condensing a mirage of different genres into music that thrills the soul , Hip Hop, and Pop. He welcomes listeners into his virtual world, lending a little bit of himself, whether it’s his fragility on “Akela”, his ferocity on “Gunehgar”, his hunger on “Bhookh” or his romance on “Sitara” .
The Mumbai native has injected some cinematic flavor into the album, adding Bolly in “Baazigar” in addition to references to Allu Arjun’s famous dialogue in Bollywood movie “Pushpa” as well as a drawing in “Plush” A reimagining of rap classic “Baazigar O Baazigar” There are parallels between India captain Rohit Sharma’s cricketing style and his own rap prowess in “Killer.”
