New Delhi: The Enforcement Directorate (ED) on Tuesday summoned Bihar Deputy Chief Minister Tejashwi Yadav for alleged land work involving his father and former Railways Minister Lalu Prasad Yadav and other family members.
Earlier, his sister and Rajya Sabha member Misa Bharti was questioned by the ED.
In March, the ED claimed that, based on specific intelligence, Rs 1 crore, $1,900, 540 grams of gold and 1.5 kg of gold jewellery, among other items, were recovered during raids at 24 locations in Delhi, Mumbai, Patna and Ranchi. Unaccounted cash entry for criminal documents.
The ED had said they uncovered about Rs 600 crore in “proceeds of crime”, out of which Rs 350 crore in real estate and Rs 250 crore in transactions through various benamidaars.
Investigations conducted by the PMLA so far have allegedly revealed that several plots of land in prominent locations in Patna and other areas were illegally acquired by the Lalu Prasad family to replace jobs provided by the railway sector. The current market value of these plots exceeds Rs 200 crore and several Benamidal, shell entities and beneficial owners of these lands have been identified.
“A property at D-1088 New Friends Colony, Delhi (detached 4 storey bungalow, registered in the name of AB Exports Private Ltd, owned and controlled by Tejashwi Prasad Yadav and his family) proved to be worth less than 40 lakhs, the current market value is around Rs 1.5 billion,” the ED said.
An official claimed that large amounts of cash/proceeds of crime were funneled into the purchase of the property, whereas few Mumbai-based entities dealing in the gem and jewelry industry were used to divert ill-gotten gains in this regard.
“Although on paper, the property had been declared as the offices of AB Exports Private Ltd and AK Infosystems Pvt Ltd, it was exclusively used as residential land by Tejashwi Prasad. During the search, Tejashwi Prasad was found living in the house , and was found to be using the house as his residential property,” the ED said.
The ED said their investigation found that 4 plots of land acquired by the Lalu Yadav family from poor Group D applicants for just Rs 7.5 lakh were sold by Rabri Devi to the former RJD MLA Syed Abu Dojana, bagged a whopping Rs 3.5 lakh.
It said their investigations further revealed that most of the money received had been transferred to Tejashwi Prasad’s account.
