San Francisco: CEO Elon Musk has officially become Twitter’s new CEO as the microblogging platform prepares for deeper layoffs under his leadership.
Musk earlier tweeted that he “doesn’t know” who Twitter’s CEO is, and the latest SEC reveals that Musk is now the only “reporter” on Twitter.
The “reporter” is the CEO of the combined company.
Musk, who has disbanded Twitter’s board, had earlier tweeted: “My title is Twit Chief, it’s on my resume. No idea who the CEO is.”
Meanwhile, the Washington Post reported that the layoffs at Twitter would affect roughly a quarter of its workforce, severely impacting teams including sales, product, engineering, legal, trust and safety.
According to CNBC, Musk has brought more than 50 Tesla employees to Twitter to help with the transformation.
Musk became “Twitter’s sole director,” according to the SEC filing.
“On October 27, 2022, as a result of the closing of the merger, Musk became the sole director of Twitter,” the filing reads.
“Under the terms of the merger agreement, the following persons who were directors of Twitter prior to the merger’s effective date will cease to be directors of Twitter as of the effective date of the merger: Bret Taylor, Parag Agrawal, Omid Kordestani, David Rosenblatt, Martha Lane Fox, Patrick Pichette, Egon Durban, Fei-Fei Li and Mimi Alemayehou.
All former members of Twitter’s board, including recently ousted CEO Agrawal and Chairman Taylor, are no longer directors “under the terms of the merger agreement,” the company filing said.
Musk, who took over as Twitter boss last week, reportedly took his first job by firing Indian-born CEO Agrawal, CFO Ned Segal, corporate policy chief Vijaya Gadde and others.
