The victims were Theneru Prameela (35), Chinthakayala Prameela (33), Uday Lokesh (8), Naragoni Kotaiah (55) and Gundu Jyothi (38).
Surya pets: Five people, including an 8-year-old boy, were killed and 20 injured in a traffic accident on State Highway 65 in Munagara in the early hours of Sunday.
Those killed included Thenneru Prameela (35), Chinthakayala Prameela (33), Uday Lokesh (8), Naragoni Kotaiah (55) and Gundu Jyothi (38).
The condition of the three is critical and they have been transferred to a hospital in Kaman for better treatment.
The accident happened at 1.45am when a tractor carrying the victim was hit by a truck coming from the opposite direction near the Sandeep petrol station in Munagala. The tractor was allegedly on the wrong side of the road entering Munagala village.
The victims were all relatives of Ayyappa Swamis who had returned home after participating in the ‘padi pooja’ at the Ayyappa Swamy temple on the outskirts of Munagara.
The truck was allegedly being driven recklessly and was on its way from Hyderabad to Vijayawada.
