On Friday, Minister Indrakaran Reddy along with MLA Vittal Reddy laid the foundation stone for the reconstruction of Sri Gnana Saraswathi Devasthanam in Basar.
Neil Marr: Forestry Minister Allola Indrakaran Reddy said efforts were underway to develop the ancient Sri Gnana Saraswathi Devasthanam in Basar into a major pilgrimage center in Telangana. He joined Mudhole MLA G Vittal Reddy on Friday to lay the foundation stone for the reconstruction of the shrine.
According to Agama Shastra, a master plan was prepared to renovate the abode of Goddess Saraswathi, Reddy said. He said Shringeri Mutt Pope Sri Bharathi Theertha Mahaswami and his successor Vidhushekhar Bharathi Teertha Swami validated the plan and nodded their approval. Telangana Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao will start rebuilding soon.
The Minister informed that Rs 50 crore has been allocated for the development of the shrine. Various works worth Rs. 8 million have been completed. Apart from this, Rao was ordered to sanction Rs 50 crore. Reconstruction of the main temple, construction of the most sanctuary out of black stones, construction of a mandapam for the Mahalaxmi deity, reinstallation of Shivalayam, Raj Gopurams or monumental entrances in four directions, Dwajasthambam or flag poles etc. will begin soon.
Collector K Varun Reddy, temple executive Vijayarama Rao and many others were present.
