Casper Ruud beats Nicolas Jarry to advance to ongoing Roland Garros quarterfinals

Paris: Norwegian tennis star Kasparrud advanced to the ongoing French Open quarter-finals with a victory over Nicolas Jarry in the fourth round on Monday. According to the ATP, Luther won 7-6(3), 7-5, 7-5.
Luther saved 14 of 17 break points in three close sets to advance to the quarter-finals of a Grand Slam for the third time.
The Norwegian won the first set tie-break, then came back from 1-4 to win the second set, and then won the third set 2-4 to complete the victory in 3 hours and 20 minutes. In a fascinating fight, his rock-solid baseline performance in windy conditions proved key against an aggressive Jarry, who beat Luther’s 30 winners with 56 wins. Still, the Chilean couldn’t match his opponent’s consistency at key points.
“It’s been great for me. Three very, very tough series. I think today I can thank my team for pushing me every day in practice because not every day is like [this one]. But I did the work and I feel good physically,” Ruud was quoted by the ATP as saying.
“If we have to play more, I’m more prepared, so it’s a win not only for me but for my team. We’ve done well the past few years and I’m happy Back to the quarter-finals,” he added.
Luther will face Holger Rooney in the next round, continuing his quest for a Virgo Grand Slam title.
Rooney won his first five-set match at Roland Garros on Monday as the sixth-seeded Dane overcame Francesco Cerendolo and a physical challenge to win 7-6(3), 3-6, 6-4, 1 -6 won, 7-6 (10-7) in the fourth game.
He won in 3 hours and 59 minutes, his quality ebbing and flowing throughout. He won the jaw-dropping tiebreaker on the pitch.
“I had a heartbreaking loss in Australia, I was in this situation,” Luane said in an interview on the field.
“I served for the match and I lost and ended up going to a match tie break like this, so actually when we started the match tie break I told myself just to relax, play tennis, enjoy [it]. Moments like this are always with you, win or lose, you enjoy it and give it your best, so I enjoy every moment,” he added.
Earlier, Stefanos Tsitsipas continued his immaculate performance in the ongoing Roland Garros 2023 as he eased into the fourth round of the Roland Garros on the Court of Susan Lenglen. Defeated Austrian Sebastian Ofner.
With the win, Tsitsipas opens up a blockbuster quarter-final showdown with Carlos Alcaraz at the 2023 French Open.
After Alcaraz put on a masterful display against Lorenzo Musetti earlier in the day, Tsitsipas responded with a fine display of his own, 7-5, 6-3, 6 -0 Lost only one serve while winning. Top seed Alcaraz easily beat Musetti 6-3, 6-2, 6-2.
Offner fought back early and was ready to force his favorite opponent into a first-set tie-break. But when the Austrian hit a forehand just wide of the set point, Tsitsipas took advantage and took the lead.
