Medak collector Rajarshi Shah spoke with officials in Medak on Thursday.
McDuck: Collector Rajarshi Shah has asked officials to prepare proposals to plant fruit plants on 500 acres of land on the outskirts of villages and towns in Medak district to control the monkey threat.
In a meeting on Thursday, collectors directed the forestry, DRDA and Panchayat departments to make proposals. He said that until the trees had grown, separate arrangements had to be made to feed the monkeys to prevent them from entering villages and towns, and asked the Narsapur Municipal Commissioner to catch the monkeys and release them into the forest after neutering them.
He also asked officials to fine people who feed monkeys by the side of the road. Since monkeys and dogs were being transported from other parts of the state to the Narsapur forest area, Shah asked officials to keep a close eye on such behavior as well. Collectors also want to install sirens in residential areas to scare monkeys away from them.
The meeting was attended by ZP CEO Venkata Shailesh, DFO Ravi Prasad, DRDO Srinivas, DPO Saibaba, Municipal Commissioner Venkata Gopal, Mohan, etc.
