The prestigious award, presented by the Gandhi Foundation of America, was presented to Sri Ravishan in the presence of Isaac Faris, nephew of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and Dr. Swati Kulkarni, Consul General of India in Atlanta Card.
Washington: Indian spiritual leader Sri Sri Ravishankar received the Gandhi Peace Pilgrimage Award in Atlanta for his tireless efforts to spread the message of peace and non-violence championed by Mahatma Gandhi and Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.
In the presence of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.’s nephew Isaac Farris and Indian Consul General in Atlanta Dr. Swati Kulkarni, the Gandhi Foundation of America awarded Sri Sri Ravi Shankar this prestigious award.
The award goes to the founder of The Art of Living for “outstanding service and contribution to humanity that has brought about the change we wish to see in the world” in the spirit of King Gandhi’s wisdom, insight and inspiration and Ahimsa,” the quote said.
“Certain messages are timeless messages. In this category, Martin Luther King Jr. and Mahatma Gandhi’s messages are very relevant. They are fresh for every era, every generation. Sometimes it becomes more relevant. In We face such a polarized and tense world today and the message of peace must be heard loud and clear,” Sri Sri Ravi Shankar said in his acceptance speech.
