GHMC to overhaul crematoria in Sanath Nagar constituency

Hyderabad: The crematorium near the Employees State Insurance Corporation (ESIC) hospital in Sanath Nagar constituency will be remodeled from scratch by the Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC).
GHMC plans to have more features and facilities than the existing Vaikunta Mahaprasthanam in Jubilee Hills and will develop the Sanath Nagar crematorium at a cost of Rs 10 crore.
Crematorium facilities include funeral platforms, buildings with seating arrangements, amenities such as drinking water and washing areas, cremation storage facilities, prayer halls, ample parking, storage lockers, as well as trails, plantings and landscaping.
“As part of the security measures, we will deploy security guards and install CCTV cameras. We also plan to establish a mechanism to conduct the last rites online for family members who cannot attend the funeral,” said Livestock Minister T Srinivas, who visited the crematorium on Monday. Yadav said.
“This cemetery is spread over a plot of about 7.5 acres and it will be better developed than Vaikunta Mahaprasthanam,” he said. The facility will be available to residents of Sanath Nagar, Jubilee Hills, Kukatpally and Khairatabad.
