Hyderabad: The inaugural Indian Racing League (IRL) returned to Hyderabad for round four, but due to overcast weather, Saturday’s race at India’s first street circuit – Hyderabad Street Circuit – was postponed. NTR Marg Friday on the banks of the Hussain Sagar Lake in Hyderabad.
The first round in Hyderabad on November 20 was canceled due to safety concerns, while the second and third rounds were played in Chennai. IRL headed back to Hyderabad for the last leg and disappointed the fans. The weather in the morning was not conducive to the scheduled qualifying session due to visibility problems.
However, free practice, which ran for 40 minutes in the evening, was also cautioned several times. Fans who had gathered to watch the race manage to catch a glimpse of it in the evening. Qualifying was postponed to Sunday due to the lack of light at night. However, with rain expected on Sunday, organizers were caught between a rock and a hard place.
Organizers were better prepared to host the event this time around, as they came up with designated locations for the audience. Three pedestrian bridges were built.
Hyderabad FC Hyderabad Blackbirds currently lead the standings with 301.5 points, while Godspeed Kochi (242.5) and Goa Aces (165) are second and third respectively.
