Hyderabad: The long-awaited Hyderabad Cricket Association league will start on June 6, officials informed on Monday.
The new format will divide teams into groups A, B, and C instead of A1, A2, and A3. A division will have 21 teams. Teams included in this division for the 2018-19 and 2019-20 seasons were eliminated.
However, the combined XI teams from each region remain in the same group to provide a platform for cricketers from each region. The Budding Stars Cricket Club is No. 1 in Division A2 for the 2017-18, 2018-19 and 2019-2020 seasons and No. 1 in Division A1 for the 2021-22 season.
According to the news released by the HCA, the bottom two teams in Group A will be relegated to Group B after the end of the season, while the top two teams in Group B will be promoted to Group A.
Meanwhile, the teams in Group A will be divided into two groups. After the league, the Zonals will join the team that is finalized to represent Hyderabad in the Ranji and U-23 Championships.
In Group B, 62 teams will be divided into five groups. The top 2 from each pool will play against the top 2 from other pools to determine the ranking, the top 2 will advance to class A, while the bottom 2 from each pool will play against each other, and the last 2 teams will be relegated to class C .
There are 105 teams in Group C, which will be divided into 6 groups. The top teams in each pool will play against each other to determine the ranking. The top two teams advance to Group B.
Meanwhile, player registration will start on May 24 and end on June 3. Each club/organization can register 18 players. No transfers of players are allowed, nor provisional registrations.
