Principal E Prabhakar talking to his students at ZPHS Shivvampet in Sangareddy district
sangaredi: Where there is a will, there is a way. This quote fits E Prabhakar, principal of Zilla Parishad High School in Shivvampet.
In 2018, when Prabhakar was appointed principal of the school, which then had 350 students, the school lacked basic facilities. There are no proper toilets, fences, or even a drinking water supply. Classrooms do not have proper doors and windows.
To make the college a better place for the students, Prabhakar is determined to improve the condition of the school so that the students can focus on their studies.
As there were several companies near the village, Prabhakar contacted a beverage company to seek support from its management under Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR).
Speaking of Telangana todayPrabhakar said beverage companies donated Rs 1.8 lakh for the purchase of desks for two persons, installation of doors, windows and other amenities. He then approached a nearby rice mill, which donated 300 steel plates.
After hearing about Prabhakar’s efforts, NIRMAAN, an NGO working to improve the infrastructure of government educational institutions, approached him a few years ago.
The NGO then built toilets for the students, helped the school organize podiums for different extra-curricular activities, and painted the entire school building.

The school has now been selected by the state government’s Mana Ooru Mana Badi initiative launched by Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao to change the face of schools in the government sector.
Prabhakar said that under the plan, the school will get two additional classrooms, a computer lab, a library, a canteen, a water pool and more facilities.
The program has installed solar panels on the school rooftops to help the school save on monthly electricity bills. With 50 pupils from various private schools joining the school, bringing the total to over 400, the impact is evident.
Prabhakar has 20 years of experience as a teacher and he was the principal of ZPHS Athmakur, his previous position.
