Hyderabad: The Telangana High Court on Wednesday directed the Hyderabad police chief to approve the Telangana State Congress Committee (TPCC) to hold a puja at Dharna Chowk in Indira Park.
Justice B Vijaysen Reddy, after hearing the motion for lunch, directed the petitioner to lodge a new statement with the police advising the date and time of the dharna. It also directed that the petitioners should ensure that the number of participants does not exceed 300 and that the Covid-19 precautionary measures and other conditions, if any, imposed by the police authorities are observed.
B. Ashok Kumar Goud, representing the party’s working chairman, has lodged a challenge in the High Court seeking to deny police permission. The Congress Party is seeking approval to protest the state’s sarpanches. Petitioners argue that the denial order is arbitrary in nature and unconstitutional. Government defenders, on the other hand, vehemently opposed ratification, citing inconvenience to the public. After hearing the opinions of both parties, the judge directed permission.
