Indian Hockey congratulates Indian girls junior hockey team on first win

New Delhi: Hockey India congratulated the Indian girls junior hockey team on Sunday for their maiden title at the Girls Junior Asia Cup in Kakamigahara, Japan, awarding each member of the team a cash prize of Rs 2 lakh.
Annu (22) and Neelam (41) each scored a goal for India, while Seoyeon Park (25) scored the only goal for South Korea in Sunday’s exciting final.
“In recognition of the team’s outstanding performance and undefeated record in this prestigious competition, which has secured them a place in the 2023 FIH Women’s Youth World Cup in Chile, the Indian Hockey Executive Committee proudly announces the award of 20 INR 10,000 in cash awards for each player, while the support staff will receive INR 1 lakh each as a thank you,” Hockey India said in a press release on Sunday.
Hockey India President Padma Shri Dr. Dilip Tirkey congratulated the team, praising the girls for their brilliant achievement. He said: “When the Indian Junior Girls team won the Junior Asian Cup for the first time, we felt immense pride and it left us all in awe.
“Their extraordinary talent and determination have shown real promise. This win cements their dominance in the field and I am confident it will provide a solid foundation for their upcoming Youth World Cup challenge later this year. For In recognition of their outstanding achievements, Hockey India has decided to award the players well-deserved cash awards. My heartfelt congratulations to the team and dedicated support staff for their unwavering efforts to bring glory to our country,” Tirkey said in said the press release.
Hockey India Secretary General Bhola Nath Singh also extended his heartfelt wishes for the team’s victory and commended the girls for their extraordinary character and sportsmanship in every match.
“In every game, the team has consistently displayed exceptional quality and embraced the true spirit of the game. The team’s continued victories in the Junior Asian Cup have shown that the future of hockey in India is secure.
