Hyderabad: The city is on alert as Covid-19 cases in China continue to rise sharply. Rajiv Gandhi International Airport (RGIA) on Friday issued new guidelines for international passengers arriving at Hyderabad airport to curb the spread of the virus.
The guidelines, which will take effect on Saturday, state that all international travelers must ensure they are fully vaccinated. It further said that two percent of passengers will be randomly subjected to RT-PCR testing upon arrival.
Airport authorities have announced that Covid-positive passengers will be informed of quarantine protocols.
China may have recorded more than 1 million new infections and at least 5,000 deaths per day, according to the latest estimates by an analyst firm.
London-based Airfinity provided new estimates predicting that cases in China will continue to rise, with possible two peaks, one in mid-January and the other in early March.
