Hyderabad: Chief of Air Staff visits AFA to mark Pilatus PC-7 MK II flying 200,000 hours

Hyderabad: Chief of Air Staff Air Marshal VR Chaudhari visited the Air Force Academy (AFA) on Wednesday to commemorate 200,000 flight hours and ten years of Pilatus PC-7 MK II basic trainer aircraft operation at the IAF.

The Pilatus PC-7 MK II basic trainer aircraft is used for the initial training of cadet pilots of the Indian Air Force (IAF) flying detachments and pilots of the Indian Navy and Indian Coast Guard, in addition to training cadets and officers from foreign friendly countries.

The Chief of Air Staff, who served as Deputy Commander during the inauguration of USS Pilatus in 2013, unveiled a commemorative pedestal to mark the occasion and flew a PC-7 MK II for the sortie.

Also present were Air Marshal R Radhish, AOC-in-C Training Command, Air Marshal B Chandra Sekhar, AFA Commander and several senior officers from Air Force Headquarters and Headquarters Training Command.

CAS has also launched an innovative QR code based tool management system which was developed in-house by “AFA Team” in line with Atmanirbhar Bharat’s national mission. This will significantly improve tool management, saving man hours, increasing efficiency and improving flight and maintenance safety.
