Hyderabad: Dr. P Raghu Ram, Founding Director of the KIMS-Ushalakshmi Center for Breast Diseases, has been elected an Honorary Fellow by the American Surgical Association (ASA), the oldest and most prestigious surgical organization in the United States.
The honorary fellowship is the highest recognition ASA can bestow on a senior surgeon and will be awarded to Dr. Raghuram during ASA’s 144th Annual Meeting, scheduled for April 2024 in Washington, DC.
In a letter to Dr. Raghu Ram, Professor Mary Horn, Secretary General of the American Surgeon Association and Chair of the Department of Surgery at Stanford University, stated that the ASA Council voted unanimously to elect Dr. Raghu Ram as an Honorary Fellow. Currently, there are 99 honorary fellows worldwide.
Dr Raghu Ram returned to Hyderabad from the UK to spread awareness and treatment of breast cancer, he received an Honorary FRCS from the Royal College of Surgeons in 2022 and an Honorary Fellowship from the Society of Surgeons of Great Britain and Ireland (2021), Sri Lanka College of Surgeons (2020), Chinese College of Surgeons (2020) and Royal College of Surgeons of Thailand FRCS (2019).
