Hyderabad: Kalyani Motors, which has Nexa’s largest showroom in Hyderabad, on Saturday launched the Jimny, an off-road SUV from Maruti Suzuki. The long-awaited SUV was unveiled by Assistant Police Commissioner, LB Nagar, Rachakonda Police Commissioner, P Sreedhar Reddy in the presence of Vice President Kalyani Motors, Shalin Chaudhari and Operations Chief Kalyani Motors, Stevens Reginald among others.
One of the most anticipated models in the country, the Jimny SUV is an off-road vehicle powered by a 1.5-litre four-cylinder naturally aspirated K15B petrol engine that produces a maximum power output of 105 PS and a maximum torque output of 138 Nm. The engine is available with a choice of two transmissions: a 5-speed manual and a 4-speed automatic.
The India-spec Jimny will be equipped with Suzuki’s famous AllGrip four-wheel drive system, which includes a manual transfer case and a low-range gearbox. The new Maruti Suzuki Jimny is expected to be priced between Rs 1.0-1.4 lakh (ex-showrooms in India) and will serve as a more compact and affordable alternative to off-roaders like the Mahindra Thar and Force Gurkha.
Some of the other features of the SUV include push-button start-stop, cruise control, automatic air conditioning, headlight washers, multi-information display, LED headlights, and more.
According to Kalyani Motors officials, the customer enthusiasm seen at the Kalyani Motors Nagole showroom suggests that the Jimny will do well (in terms of sales) in Telangana and other states in southern India.
