Hyderabad: Six well-wishers who decided not to be just bystanders but to step in and save a woman who was attacked by a jilted lover in S. R Nagar on Monday were congratulated by police on Tuesday.
The six, including Mujeeb, Shanker, Maruthi, Naik, Azhar and Akash, were passing on the main Borabanda road when they noticed a man, Kishore Kumar, attacking a woman he knew with a knife. Police later learned the alleged attacker was stalking the victim after she rejected his advances.
“Due to timely intervention by Mujib and others, Kishore dropped the knife and hurriedly left the woman. She was transferred to the hospital for treatment and was discharged on Tuesday,” said S. R Nagar inspector K Saidulu.
Kishore was later arrested by police and remanded in custody.
