Sri Narayanadas and Sri Neti Lakshminarayana Bhagavatulu.
Hyderabad: The six-day Harikatha Mahotsavamulu commemorating Adibhatla Narayanadas and his chief disciple Neti Lakshminarayana Bhagavatulu, with Yadardha Ramayanam (written by Das) Harikatha renditions will be held at the Sri Sringeri Shankar Math temple grounds in Nallakunta from April 12th to 17th, daily from 6.15 starts in the afternoon.
Performances will be given by renowned Haridas including Srirama Jananam (April 12), Seetha Kalyanam (April 13), Srirama Paduka Pattabhishekam (April 14), Srirama Sugreeva Mytri (April 15), Hanumatsandesam (April 16) and Samrajya Siddhi harikatha (17 April).
Adibhatla is a synonym for “Harikatha” and vice versa. A multi-faceted figure, he belonged to the Union of Saints and earned him the title of “Father of Harikatha”. He wrote the Harikathas in the most difficult tatras like Panchamukhi and Shanmukhi and presented them in a way that even won the approval of renowned scholars.
With his expertise in playing veena, he stole the heart of the king of Mysore in his court and later, Ananda Gajapati Maha, the then ruler of Vizianagaram Ananda Gajapati Maharaja appointed Das as the first Principal of the Vijayarama Conservatory.
His disciple Neti Lakshminarayana Bhagavatulu installed the Guru’s idol in the main Shiva temple in Satyanarayanapuram, Vijayawada on January 25, 1951.
Daily guests like Dr. Yerramilli Ramaprabha (Carnatic Musician), KV Ramana (Telangana Government Advisor), Bharateeyam Satyavani, Dr. Vanaja, HoD Department of Dance, Telugu University, Dr. Uday, J Viswanadha Jayaramulu Bhagavatar, MVS Prasad (Retd. IAS ), Upadhyayula Narayanadas and Ganti Savitri (Das’ great-grandson), Dr N Ananthalakshmi and Dr Prabhala Janaki will be attending.
The event was jointly organized by family members of the late Neti Lakshminarayana Bhagavatulu and Annamayya Parivaramu from Hyderabad and coordinated by Yanamandra Venkata Krishnaiah and Burra Padmanabha Sarma Bhagavatulu.
