Hyderabad's healthcare infrastructure gets major facelift, Rs 100 crore upgrades underway

Hyderabad: Major tertiary government hospitals in Hyderabad will be able to provide patients with upgraded medical facilities and medical services, with a major healthcare infrastructure upgrade worth over Rs 100 crore underway and ready to be launched in the next few weeks.

Works related to the creation and upgrading of healthcare infrastructure will be fast-tracked to final stages at Koti ENT Hospital, Nallakunta’s Fever Hospital and Gandhi Hospital, which will serve poor and needy patients across Telangana.

The historical legacy structure of the ENT Coty Hospital could not support the increasing patient volume. Minor and major ENT surgeries used to be referred to Gandhi Hospital and OGH as there were no operating theaters available.

However, in the next few months, Coty ENT Hospital will have its own 100-bed state-of-the-art centralized building worth Rs 3.5 crore. The new facility will have 8 modular operating theaters and other high-end facilities required by ENT hospital patients.

The Fever Hospital in Nallakunta is the only government hospital dedicated to treating seasonal illnesses and is currently undergoing a major upgrade.

The state-of-the-art outpatient building with a capacity of nearly 1,000 patients, constructed at a cost of Rs 109.1 crore, will be available for patients in the next few weeks.

In addition, a free dialysis facility costing Rs 5 million and a high-end mortuary worth Rs 6 million will be built soon, which will further strengthen the medical infrastructure of government hospitals.

Gandhi Hospital

In the past year or so, Gandhi Hospital has witnessed a major healthcare infrastructure upgrade of over Rs 1 billion.

While some new initiatives like procurement of MRI worth Rs 1.3 crore, development of cath lab at Rs 9 crore, CT scanner at Rs 214 crore and Rs 2.45 crore are already available to patients, other major healthcare infrastructure upgrades It is expected to be available to patients in the coming months.

Among the infrastructure upgrades, Gandhi Hospital will have a 200-bed Maternal and Child Care (MCH) facility in a week or two at a cost of Rs 550 crore, specially developed for pregnant women and babies.

Apart from the MCH facility, the hospital will also have a Rs 30 crore Central National Transplant Center for complex organ transplant procedures.
