Hyderabad: Panchayat Raj and Rural Development Secretary Sandeep Kumar Sultania stressed the need for continuous monitoring to improve the performance of local institutions.
Participating in an Orientation Program on Extra Gatherers for Rural and Urban Development organized by Telangana Rural Development Corporation (TSIRD) in Rajendranagar on Wednesday, Sultania said the role of extra gatherers in local institutions is crucial for the proper implementation of rural development and urban development plans.
He asked them to conduct regular reviews with committees to monitor the performance of local sanitation projects, engineering committees, and other committees formed with the participation of the people of the village and township.
Sudania said there should be continuous monitoring of sanitation facilities in villages and towns. He advised other tax collectors to monitor the infrastructure, tractors and carts provided to the village council of Gram Village as part of a rural development programme. “Special attention should be paid to underperforming local institutions,” he advises.
This was followed by a slide presentation on the Panchayat Raj Act by John Wesley, Deputy Commissioner of the Panchayat Raj Department.
