New Delhi: India reported 201 new cases of coronavirus infection, raising the total to 4.46 million, while active cases rose to 3,397, the Union Health Ministry said on Saturday.
Updated data from the health ministry at 8 am put the death toll at 5,30,691, with one death collated in Kerala.
The daily positive rate was 0.15%, and the weekly positive rate was 0.14%.
So far, 90.97 million tests to detect COVID-19 have been performed, with 136,315 tests performed in the past 24 hours, the ministry said.
Active cases represent 0.01% of total infections. It said the national COVID-19 recovery rate has increased to 98.80%.
The number of active COVID-19 cases rose by 17 within 24 hours, the ministry said.
The number of people who recovered from the disease jumped to 4,41,42,791, while the case fatality rate was 1.19%.
To date, India has recorded 4.46 crore (4,46,76,879) cases of COVID-18.
According to the ministry’s website, 220.04 crore doses of the coronavirus vaccine have been administered in the country so far under the nationwide COVID-19 vaccination campaign.
India’s COVID-19 total has crossed the 2 million mark on 7 August 2020, 3 million on 23 August, 4 million on 5 September and 5 million on 16 September. It exceeded 6 million on September 28, 7 million on October 11, 8 million on October 29, 9 million on November 20, and 1 million on December 19, 2020. The country surpassed 2 million cases on May 4, 2021, 3 million and 40 million on June 23. The case on January 25 this year.
