Chandigarh: The Indian Army’s Saudi Roujit Brigade and Western Command conducted a joint exercise with the Indian Air Force along the western border, officials said on Thursday.
The purpose of the joint exercise is to deploy paratroopers equipped with next-generation weapons systems in support of mechanized forces penetrating into enemy territory to facilitate and expand the operational reach of friendly forces.
An official statement here said C-130J Super Hercules, C-17 Globemaster and AN-32 aircraft were used to insert troops and specialized equipment into designated areas of the obstacle-ridden terrain with clinical precision.
“The exercise was conducted in a realistic tactical environment, demonstrating the speed, agility and lethality with which paratroopers can enter hostile environments, secure drop zones and engage the enemy with surprise, precision and speed,” it said.
“A high level of operational readiness and synergy was demonstrated between Western Command, Strategic Forces and the Indian Air Force to conduct integrated operations over obstacle-ridden terrain,” it added.
