INS Kirpan decommissioning and VPN handover ceremony officiated by Admiral R Hari Kumar

orange line: The Indian Navy ship INS Kilpan was decommissioned from the Indian Navy and handed over to the Vietnam People’s Navy (VPN) on Saturday after completing 32 years of distinguished service to the country.

Admiral Hari Kumar, Chief of Staff of the Indian Navy, and Rear Admiral Fan Mengxiong, Deputy Commander-in-Chief and Chief of Staff of VPN presided over the decommissioning and handover ceremony of the “Kilpan” aircraft carrier.

Addressing the decommissioning ceremony, CNS Admiral R Hari Kumar said, “It is a great honor for me to be part of the handover ceremony of INS Kilpan, one of the finest and longest serving warships of the Indian Navy, to the esteemed People’s Navy of Vietnam. resonated.

India and Vietnam have a rich history of civilization and cultural ties spanning more than 2,000 years, originating at the world-famous My Son ruins, the site of the Hindu Cham civilization.

The Cham temples built in Da Nang between the 4th century AD and the 13th century AD testify to the fact that the sea has and will continue to facilitate the connection between our two countries in almost every aspect of shared values, traditions, language, texts, culture, food.

The underlying trend is the deep people-to-people ties that have helped overcome the vagaries of time and brought India and Vietnam to the “comprehensive strategic partnership” that both countries enjoy today.

“Now is a continuation of the long-term cooperative relationship between Vietnam and India. Whether it is a larger world view, a vision for the future, a clear goal of socio-economic well-being, and more importantly, a spiritual pursuit based on mutual respect and an overall approach to promote individual or common interests, there are many things in common.”

India has gracefully accepted the landmark International Court of Justice (ICJ) ruling on the disputed area of the Bay of Bengal, which has given our neighbor greater access to the sea. These examples set a precedent for resolving future disputes through peaceful means, compliance with international law, and shared values that strengthen the relationship between the two countries.

This move will further strengthen India’s relationship with East Asia.

In order to strengthen India’s partnership with Southeast Asian countries, Indian Navy Chief Admiral Hari Kumar will participate in the handover ceremony of the INS Kirpan to Vietnam today, Indian Navy officials told ANI ahead of Kumar’s trip to Vietnam.

On June 28, the INS Kirpan departed Visakhapatnam on its final journey from India to Vietnam.
Defense Minister Rajnath Singh announced the decision to gift the warship to Vietnam during a visit to Vietnamese Defense Minister Admiral Phan Van Giang last month.

This is the first time India has gifted a large active Corvette to a friendly country. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has been emphasizing the Security and Growth for All in the Region (SAGAR) policy.

INS Kirpan is an indigenous Kukri-class guided missile frigate equipped with weapons and sensors that is fully operational with the Indian Navy.

It is worth noting that Vietnam and India had very good military relations in the past and have been committed to military hardware cooperation.

India also refitted the “Kilpan” not long ago, and then presented it to the Vietnamese Navy, which is very capable.
