New Delhi: Indian consumers will still head to brick-and-mortar stores to buy smartphones in 2023 despite a surge in online shopping, as touch and feel continue to play an important role for them, a report showed on Monday.
According to a report by CyberMedia Research (CMR), the top three drivers of satisfaction with overall smartphone sales support are satisfaction with trade/sales programs, process transparency, and timely payments.
“In the new normal, online and offline retail remain equally important touchpoints for consumers. Consumers seek to research online, buy offline and vice versa,” said Prabhu Ram, Head of Industry Intelligence Group, CMR.
Offline will continue to be the cornerstone of India’s mobile business through 2023 and beyond, he added.
Sales programs, timely payments, and transaction transparency are what retail partners look for when connecting with smartphone brands.
The Lava brand ranks highest nationally in retailer trust.
Satya Mohanty, Head of Industry Consulting Group, CMR said, “With consistent and long-standing focus on the offline retail market, Lava continues to dominate in terms of retailer trust with its transparent processes, timely payments and price controls.”
In offline retail, the success of a smartphone brand depends on its continued engagement and trust in the retail channel partner ecosystem, he added.
