Chennai: The Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) said the booster engine manufactured by Economic Explosives Ltd for its PSLV-XL rocket performed satisfactorily.
The Indian space agency tested the booster engine, called PSOM-XL, at the rocket launch port in Sriharikota on Wednesday.
According to ISRO, through this test, the capacity of the private sector to produce PSLV platforms has been established.
This is the first step towards end-to-end production of PSLVs by industry.
ISRO has transferred the technology to Nagpur-based Economic Explosives Ltd in 2019.
NewSpace India Ltd, the commercial arm of the Department of Space (DoS), has selected a consortium led by HAL-L&T to build five PSLV-XL rockets.
