In terms of upload speed, Hyderabad’s average mobile broadband speed is 10.04 Mbps, showing room for improvement

Hyderabad: Jio dominates mobile broadband in Hyderabad, while Excitel is the leader in fixed broadband in the city.
Ookla, the global leader in internet testing, analysis and verification, has released its verified internet speed data for April 2023. The report highlights the performance of mobile and fixed broadband providers in major Indian cities including Hyderabad.
According to the report, Jio leads the mobile broadband segment in Hyderabad with speeds of up to 470 Mbps, ahead of rivals Airtel and Vi India, which offer speeds of 70 Mbps and 30 Mbps respectively. On the other hand, Excitel, a start-up providing home internet services, emerged as the leader in fixed broadband in Hyderabad.
The report noted that it maintained a steady speed of 220 Mbps, surpassing traditional industry players like Airtel and Jio, which offer speeds of 100 Mbps and 90 Mbps, respectively. ACT and Tachyon Broadband dominate the fixed broadband market with speeds of 140 Mbps and 110 Mbps respectively
Several major cities such as Delhi and Bengaluru have seen improvements in median download speeds, according to Ookla data. However, it also highlights the need for ISPs to increase upload speeds, which remain relatively slow across the country.
In terms of upload speeds, Hyderabad recorded an average mobile broadband speed of 10.04 Mbps, showing room for improvement. Likewise, on fixed broadband, the city’s median upload speed was 7.01 Mbps, indicating potential for further improvement, it said.
