New Delhi: The Indian Olympic Association (IOA) announced on Monday that the Indian Handball Association (HAL) has brought two factions together in a joint effort to improve the sport and its players, in a breakthrough to resolve the months-long impasse in the Indian Handball Association (HAL). .
The amicable resolution reached through the active participation of the IOA leadership, President Dr PT Usha and its Joint Secretary and Acting CEO Kalyan Chaubey is significant as India prepares for the upcoming Hangzhou Asian Games.
The HAI executive committee conveyed the unanimous election of Digvijay Chautala as chairman, Jagan Mohan Rao as secretary general and Tejraj Singh as treasurer in a letter to Usha on Monday.
Satisfied with the resolution, Dr Usha said: “The HAI has set an example for all sports federations that problems can be resolved through dialogue. working towards a common goal.”
Kalyan Chaubey, who was instrumental in bringing the two factions together, said: “From the IOA’s point of view, the immediate priority is to see both sides come together and resolve differences amicably. It took us time, but we continue to The dialogue helped us achieve the desired outcome. We would never want to see our time, money or energy spent on any litigation, and all our efforts should be focused on the development of our players and our sport.”
Both Digvijay Chautala and Jagan Mohan Rao were satisfied with the end of the stalemate and vowed to pull together for handball in India.
“I thank the IOA for its guidance in addressing governance issues. We can now move forward and work together for the sport in the country,” IOA quoted Digvijay Chautala as saying.
Jagan Mohan Rao welcomed the IOA’s vision to resolve the dispute between the two sides, saying, “I will do my best to serve handball in India and the development of our players.”
