Mumbai: The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on Friday announced the schedule for the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 playoffs and finals, which will be played in Chennai and Ahmedabad from May 23-28.
Qualifier 1 will be played at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai on May 23 and will be played between the top two teams in the standings. It will be followed by a knockout round at the same venue on May 24, between the third- and fourth-placed teams in the standings.
Play-off matches will move to Ahmedabad’s Narendra Modi Stadium for a second qualifier on May 26 between the winner of the knockout round and the loser of Qualifier 1 game.
The IPL 2023 final will be held in Ahmedabad on May 28 and the final will be played by the winners of Qualifiers 1 and 2.
Ahmedabad also hosted Qualifier 2 and the IPL 2022 final, with the Gujarat Titans winning 7-5 at their home ground under all-rounder Hardik Pandya, making their first season an impressive one. An unforgettable season. A wicket win over Sanju Samson’s Rajasthan Royals.
Pandya led Gujarat from the front with an all-around performance, taking 3/17 in his four wickets and striking 34 off 30 balls to score the best of the game in the final player award.
