Calcutta: Skipper Nitish Rana scored half-centuries (51 off 38 balls), while West Indian middle batsmen Andre Russell (42 balls) and Rinku Singh (21 balls not out) saw Kolkata Knights beat Punjab Kings Played some fine batting at the back end and took five wickets in the final ball IPL thriller here on Monday.
Chasing 180 for the win, KKR scored 182/5 and Russell played a key role in the game, hitting three sixes off Sam Curran’s 19th over to bring his side closer to goal.
Rinku then struck four in the last ball of the innings to mark victory for KKR. KKR spinner Varun Chakravarthy grabbed three wickets for 26 earlier, but the Punjab Kings still managed a half-century with captain Shikhar Dhawan at 179/7.
Dhawan (57 off 47 balls) also built a 53-run partnership with wicketkeeper and batsman Jitesh Sharma (21 balls) and set the stage for a competitive total for later batsmen.
