Dharamshala: Rajasthan Royals beat Punjab Kings by four wickets on Friday to keep their slim hopes of a play-off in the Indian Premier League alive.
Chasing 188, Yashasvi Jaiswal (50 for 36) and Devdutt Padikkal (51 for 30) slammed for 50, while Shimron Hetmyer struck 46 and impact substitute Dhruv Jurel (10 not out) sealed RR’s victory with 6 , and two spare balls.
The win keeps RR in the chase, but their fate also depends on the outcome of other games. On the other hand, PBKS withdrew from the competition.
The earlier PBKS was competitive with 187-5 pitches after being sent to the field. PBKS lost wickets regularly in the seventh innings and slid to 50 for 4 before Sam Kuran (49 not out) and Jitesh Sharma (28 for 44) for the fifth three Pitches added 64 runs, providing some momentum to the innings.
In the end, M Shahrukh Khan made 41 off 23 balls.
Navdeep Saini (3/40) was the RR bowler’s choice, while Adam Zampa (1/26) and Trent Boult (1/35) took a wicket each.
