Spinners play a vital role in controlling the run rate of the DC. In the end, DC lost too many wickets and had too much run-to-ball ratio to cover their batsmen. “Great team effort, great to see these guys show good skill and character. I don’t mind mistakes if the approach is right. It helps to see a performance like this and the guys will see that results can be had. Thank you for the way the team responded,” SRH captain Aiden Markram said after the match.
“Klassy was in great shape and Abhishek did a hard job early on. Klassy backed himself up to play this way and it’s great to see it pay off. We needed wickets to get back into the game and the two did well, Needed a special catch from Mayank. Luckily the ball came to a stop and the bowlers showed good character to execute their booty. This win will give us a lot of confidence now we go home and try hard Build on that,” Markram continued.
SRH won the toss and decided to bat first, and they managed to score 197/6 on the board. Chasing a goal of 198, Phil Salt and Mitchell Marsh’s 112 over the second wicket gave DC a solid platform, however, after their dismissal, DC lost momentum and lost wickets regularly Door.
DC conceded their first wicket in the second ball without scoring. Bhuvenshwar sacked David Warner on the Ducks. Losing the skipper’s early wicket, Salt and Marsh took the responsibility and reached 50 with their second wicket partnership in 5.1 overs.
The duo picked up young bowler Umran Malik to speed up the run and they allowed 22 runs in the 7th inning.
Salt hit Markande off the boundary to make his first 50 IPL off 29 balls. To bring their team closer to victory, Salt and Marsh combined for 100 runs in 9.2 overs. In the 11th innings, Marsh bowled over Natarajan and took 50 off 28 balls.
With Salt’s wicket over in the 12th innings, SRH looked to be back in the game. Salter was dismissed by Marchand on 59 off 35 balls. After Salt was dismissed, DC lost their way and gave two wickets in quick succession. Manish Pandey was cheaply sacked by Abhishek Sharma in one over, while in SRH’s 14th over, Marsh was hit hard, with Marsh batting for 63 for 39 balls.
DC rookie Priyam Garg didn’t clear the mark as much as Markande’s 12 off 9 balls.
Looking good at the start of the innings, DC batsmen kept losing wickets. In the 17th innings, DC lost their sixth wicket as Natarajan dismissed Sarfaraz Khan for 10 for 9.
With tight lines and length, SRH bowlers limited DC to 188/6 in 20 overs.
Sunrisers Hyderabad will be looking to keep up the momentum going into their next match as they prepare to take on the Kolkata Knight Riders at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium on Thursday.
