JNTU-Hyderabad plans to open more EAMCET centers

The Agriculture and Medicine stream tests are scheduled for May 10 and 11, and the Engineering tests are scheduled for May 12, 13 and 14. Both tests will be administered in the morning and afternoon.

Hyderabad: With TS EAMCET 2023 receiving a record number of applications, Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University (JNTU) – Hyderabad is adding more exam centers apart from boosting the capacity of certain centres.

Last year, engineering and AM tests were conducted at 108 and 80 centers in Telangana and Andhra Pradesh respectively. In addition to these existing centers, at least 20 new test centers will be added.

According to JNTU-Hyderabad officials, the university is looking for new centers in four districts in Hyderabad as there are several engineering colleges here. In some centers with computers and good broadband and buffering systems, capacity is being increased to 1,000 or more, the official said.

“Engineering tests are scheduled in six phases and AM tests are scheduled in four phases. Despite the increase in applications, due to various other competitive exams that are queued before and after EAMCET, the exams can neither be advanced nor postponed, so we will not increase course,” the official said.

As many as 3,16,848 students have registered for the 2023 Telangana State Common Entrance Examination for Engineering, Agriculture and Medicine (TS EAMCET) so far.

Applications to the engineering stream surged by more than 30,500, with 2,02,815 candidates applying this year, compared with 1,72,238 last year. Registrations for the AM stream have also jumped from 94,476 in 2022 to 1,13,671 so far.

There may be a further surge in applications due to ongoing late fee registration at https://eamcet.tsche.ac.in/. Students can apply online and the late fee is Rs 500 as of April 20, Rs 2,500 and Rs 5,000 as of April 25 and May 2 respectively.

Hall tickets can be downloaded from the website from 30 April. AM stream tests are scheduled for May 10 and 11, and engineering tests are scheduled for May 12, 13 and 14. Both tests will be administered in the morning and afternoon.

This year, EAMCET will cover 70% of the first grade syllabus and 100% of the second grade syllabus. This is for the convenience of second year intermediate students who are studying 70% of the syllabus in the middle of their first year due to the Covid-19 pandemic.

Also, the median score will not be weighted when calculating the ranking in EAMCET. However, students must achieve at least a 45% Intermediate score to be eligible to pass the exam and enter the specialist program.
