GBC Welfare Minister G Kamalakar addressed poets, artists and literary personalities while participating in the Literary Day celebrations in Karimnagar on Sunday.
Karim Nagar: B.C. Minister of Welfare and Civil Supplies Gangula Kamalakar said Karimnagar is known for his poets, artists and literary personalities.
Speaking at the Literary Day event held as part of Telangana’s once-a-decade formation celebrations on Sunday, the minister said poets and artists also played an important role in Telangana’s agitation. A literary day is being organized in their honor. He said great personalities such as former Prime Minister PV Narasimha Rao, Dr C Narayana Reddy, Alisetti Prabhakar were born in this land, adding that Karimnagar was a center of agitation and folk arts.
The area has been under development for five years as the rulers of Andhra Pradesh neglected it. Kamalakar has also published a collection of poems ‘Vandendla Pandaga’ (Hundred Years Festival), written by 93 writers in the district. He also congratulated the 25 senior poets who received Kendra Sahitya Academy Awards and national awards.
Culture Committee Chairman and Manakondur MLA Rasamai Balkishan, Choppadandi Legislature Sunke Ravishankar, Mayor Y Sunil Rao, Collector RV Karnan and others were present.
