Bangalore: Cash, gold, liquor and freebies have been pouring down in Karnataka since the election date was announced. On Thursday, various teams confiscated Rs 4.45 crore in cash in Nippani, Bhadravathi, Gadag and Nargund, the Election Commission announcement said.
Apart from this, the IRD also confiscated 62,826 liters of liquor worth nearly Rs 189 crore.
Static surveillance teams seized 725 grams of gold worth nearly Rs 4.5 lakh in Dharwad constituency of Dharwad district, while flying squad teams seized freebies worth over Rs 3.4 lakh in Bengaluru’s Byatarayanapura constituency, the announcement said.
Rs 4.61 crore in cash, 395 grams of gold worth Rs 2.125 lakh and 28 kg of gold worth Rs 1.9 lakh were seized in Khanapur Taluk in Belagavi on Thursday. Cumulative seizures of Rs 273.8 crore in cash, alcohol worth Rs 263.8 crore, drugs worth Rs 8.8 lakh, 25.24 kg of gold worth Rs 9.87 crore and giveaways worth Rs 124.9 crore. Karnataka state assembly elections will be held on May 10 and counting will take place on May 13.
