Bangalore: Karnataka police said on Wednesday that Karnataka police have arrested four people in connection with the beating of a Muslim youth for talking to a Hindu girl and his friend in Ujire near Mangaluru, Dakshina Kannada district. on a bus.
The case has been filed against Nithesh, Sachin, Dinesh and Avinash and the victim has been identified as 22-year-old Mohammad Zahir. The incident happened on Tuesday night.
Police said Zahir was riding a bus when he spotted his friend, a Hindu girl. He sits next to her and talks to her. The girl got off the bus in Belthangady. Those on the bus saw Zahir talking to a Hindu girl and informed the group about it.
The accused, who were waiting at the next bus stop in Ujail, dragged Zahir off the bus, interrogated him and beat him.
Zahir was later admitted to a hospital and his statement was recorded. Some SDPI leaders also visited the hospital and assured the attacked youth of their support. Police said it was a scuffle between a youth and a group of people over minor incidents. Investigation is ongoing.
