Congress and BJP release list of 40-star activists for Karnataka Assembly election

Bangalore: Congress heavyweights including the party’s state president Mallikarjun Kharge, UPA president Sonia Gandhi, Rahul Gandhi, Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, state president DK Shivakumar, LoP Siddaramaiah, Shashi Tharoor ex-people Party leaders and Deputy Chief Minister Jagadish Shettar, among others, were among the list of star activists present at the party’s meeting for the May 10 parliamentary election.
The grand old party on Wednesday unveiled its list of 40 star contenders for the Karnataka state assembly elections. Other notables in the party’s list of activists include Congress Secretary-General KC Venugopal, Speaker Randeep Singh Surjewala, Secretary-General for Communications Jairam Ramesh, Bengaluru Rural MP DK Suresh, Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Bhupesh Baghel, Machal Pradesh Chief Minister Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu and former Maharashtra Chief Minister Prithviraj Chavan.
Meanwhile, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, BJP Chairman JP Nada, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath and a strong team of union ministers are among the party’s list of 40 star contenders.
According to the list released by the party, the union ministers include Rajnath Singh, Amit Shah, Nitin Gadkari, Nirmala Sitharaman, Smriti Irani , Damendra Pradhan, Mansuk Mandavia and Prahad Joshi. Apart from Adityanath, Madhya Pradesh and Assam Chief Ministers Shivraj Singh Chouhan and Himanta Biswa Sarma and Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadvavis were also included.
