Health Minister T Harish Rao started distributing KCR nutrition packs.
Hyderabad: Health Minister T Harish Rao said during the launch of the flagship project on Wednesday that the KCR Nutrition Kit program aimed at ending the epidemic of anemia in pregnant women will spread to all parts of Telangana.
The Health Minister, along with Parliament Speaker Pocharam Srinivas Reddy, Roads and Buildings Minister Vemula Prashant Reddy in the virtual presence of other ministers and MLAs, launched the Nutrition Program in Kamareddy and said all efforts will be made to expand the program and urge pregnant women to consume supplements, while Not to end up sharing with the family.
“A series of measures over the past 8 years has helped Telangana reduce the Maternal Mortality Rate (MMR) from 93 per 100,000 live births to 43 in Telangana. We are currently ranked No. Three, after Maharashtra and Kerala. With the KCR Nutrition Pack programme, we want to surpass them,” he said.
KCR nutrition packs rolled out in nine most vulnerable districts of Adilabad, Kumram Bheem Asifabad, Bhadradri Kothagudem, Mulugu, Jayashankar Bhupalpally, Vikarabad, Nagarkurnool, Kamareddy and Gadwal where the prevalence of anemia in pregnant women exceeds the state average53 percentage.
Harish Rao also slammed the opposition. “BRS is doing nutrition politics but opposition parties are doing divisive politics. They want to divide the people and spread hatred among the people of Telangana. Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao is focusing on the development agenda while the opposition is preoccupied with division politics,” he said.
Senior MLAs and Ministers Sabitha Indra Reddy, Errabelli Dayakar Rao, Indrakaran Reddy, Balka Suman, Puvvada Ajay Kumar, Satyavathi Rathod, Srinivas Goud and Niranjan Reddy launched the program in the remaining eight districts and were virtually present at the inaugural event.
