Hyderabad: Hosts and defending champions Hyderabad FC suffered their first defeat of the season with a 1-0 loss to Kerala Blasters in the ISL at the city’s GMC Balayogi Stadium on Saturday.
For the visitors, Dimitrios Diamantakos’ 18th-minute goal proved crucial as they moved up to third in the table. Regardless of the outcome, Hyderabad FC will retain their place at the top of the table and go into the draw after four straight 1-0 victories. The Kerala Blasters and Ivan Vukomanović are on the road to recovery after a slow start to the season with convincing victories in their last three games.
Manolo Marquez made three changes to Hyderabad’s squad following the win over Jamshedpur. Kerala Blasters are unchanged from their last win. Hyderabad had most of the possession in the first half, but the visitors were solid at the back and limited the defending champions’ chances for most of the half.
Kerala Shockwave took the lead thanks to a superb display from Adrian Luna ahead of the 18th-minute goal. The Uruguayan found some room in the pocket before delivering an ambitious lob to a rushing Nishukumar.
