Trivandrum: A 29-year-old Kerala youth who arrived from Qatar with a Russian female friend has been remanded in custody for “torturing” her, police said Saturday.
An official at the Koorachundu police station in Kozhikode said the Qatar-based career engineer, named Aghil, had arrived at his home near Kozundu last week with his female friend.
“Then things got messy and there was a rift between the two as the woman allegedly jumped from the first floor of his house a few days ago and was injured. Now she is recovering at the Kozhikode Medical College Hospital,” said the woman, who declined to be identified. the official by name said.
“A package of marijuana has been recovered from the youth’s home and the police investigation continues,” the official added.
Meanwhile, Argyle is believed to have torn up his friend’s passport in a fit of rage.
Russian consulate officials have begun taking steps to repatriate the Russian woman to her country, from where she traveled to Qatar and then to Kerala with Agil.
With the help of interlocutors, the police have been interacting with the woman and preparing their charge sheet.
Meanwhile, the Kerala Women’s Commission has also sought a report from the Koorachundu police station.
