Bangalore: Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) batsman Virat Kohli has been fined 10 per cent of the match fee for violating the Indian Premier League (IPL) code of conduct.
A statement said Kohli violated Article 2.2 of the IPL Code of Conduct.
While the IPL statement did not elaborate on the breach of the code of conduct, it could have been due to ex-RCB captain’s excessive celebration after the dismissal of CSK middle batsman Shivam Dube Wayne Parnell on Monday.
In the Southern Derby, Mahendra Singh Dhoni’s side won by eight points as Dube took 27 off 52 off 6 off CSK’s 226 balls.
“Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) batsman Virat Kohli violated IPL conduct during TATA Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 match against Chennai Super Kings (CSK) at M Chinnaswamy Stadium guidelines and was therefore fined 10% of the match fee, Bangalore,” the IPL statement said.
It said Kohli, who scored six on Monday, “admitted a degree 1 offense under section 2.2.
IPL Code of Conduct”.
“For level 1 code of conduct violations, the match referee’s decision is final and binding,” the statement added.
RCB will face Punjab Kings in Mohali on April 20.
