Sangaredy: A new chapter began Thursday for Ashiya Begum, a Patancherugokulnagar resident who has lived with her two children and husband Farooq in a one-room rental for more than 15 years. Since Farooq was a professional car driver and could not afford more, Ashiya Begum said they used to struggle in the room.
“Thanks to Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao, I now proudly own a two-bedroom house. From now on, my family will live a decent life,” she said, adding that she was allocated apartment 107. Ashiya Begum is one of six women who were awarded 2BHK homes on Thursday.
Kethavath Keerthi, one of the first six lucky beneficiaries of the 2BHK flats in Kolluru, said they had lived in the rented house for more than 13 years. Keerthi said it was difficult for them to pay the monthly rent of Rs 5,000 as her husband was a driver. Keerthi thanked the Chief Minister for gifting her the 2BHK apartment and said they will move into the new house soon. Keerthi was assigned to apartment 112.
Gaddameda Renuka was the first beneficiary to receive the 2BHK apartment documents from Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao in Kolluru 2BHK Colony on Thursday. She was assigned to apartment 106. Widow Renuka lives with her daughter in a rented single room in Ambedkar Nagar. To make ends meet, she worked as a maid in several houses. Renuka said she never envisioned owning her own home because her meager income was not enough to make ends meet.
