Hyderabad: City Administration Minister KT Rama Rao inaugurated the GHMC district office system in Kachiguda today, marking a major milestone in the city’s administrative reform.
In his speech, the Minister outlined the main features of the system, emphasizing the positive impact it will have on citizens and governance.
The district office system aims to simplify citizen services and ensure faster access for Hyderabad residents. By bringing services closer to the community, the system enables GHMC to quickly address public issues and provide effective solutions.
The Minister acknowledged the current lack of bureaucracy at the constituency level and highlighted how the constituency office system can bridge this gap and strengthen local governance.

He stressed that the district office system was implemented with the genuine intention of providing good governance to the citizens of Hyderabad.
Aside from political affiliations, he also called on all public representatives to work together to make the system a success, stressing the importance of cooperation. He pledged the full support of the district government regardless of which political party the public representatives represent.
The success of the system in Hyderabad has the potential to serve as a model for other cities across the country.
Rama Rao is optimistic that if the system proves effective in Hyderabad, it can be replicated across the country, revolutionizing governance and service delivery. Hyderabad is already at the forefront of cities known for good governance, and the district government system has further cemented this reputation.
He affirmed his commitment to quickly address these issues through the district government system and acknowledged that as a new system, there may be challenges initially, but he assured residents that the government will work tirelessly to overcome these obstacles and ensure the smooth functioning of the system.
District government will be headed by the Assistant Municipal Commissioner, who will oversee the various departments. A dedicated team of ten officials from the departments of road maintenance, sanitation, entomology, town planning, electricity and water supply will work from the offices.
This ensures that issues related to these departments are effectively monitored and addressed at ward level.
He also shared future plans to assign more officials from departments such as health and police to district offices to ensure comprehensive services.
The launch of the district office system marks a major step towards improving governance and service delivery in Hyderabad. As this new system takes shape, the government remains committed to its success and looks forward to the positive impact it will have on the lives of its citizens.
