Hassan: The investigation into the mixer grinder explosion that caused tension in the state has revealed that it was an act of revenge against a woman by a jilted lover, a Karnataka police source said on Wednesday.
The incident happened on Monday at the KR Puram Layout DTDC courier, a courier owned by a SARS. The mixer grinder was delivered to his shop two days ago. When it was delivered, the customer refused to accept the item, saying that the item did not come from the proper address.
Out of curiosity, the courier Shashi opened the package and found a blender inside. He further tried to test it. As soon as he opened it, the agitator grinder exploded. The blast was so powerful that windows, doors and walls of the store were damaged.
The incident caused panic among the public and a tense atmosphere.
Investigations have revealed that a jilted lover, a widower from Bangalore and a divorced woman fell in love, according to police sources. When a disagreement arose between them, the woman refused to marry him.
In order to retaliate against her, the lover used a detonator to install low-level explosives and sent them to her by courier. Police say he designed the device to explode when powered on.
However, the woman refused to accept the package because there was no address on it. The mix-mill blew up when the Express franchise owner, getting curious, lifted the lid and turned it on, sources said.
Karnataka police are taking agitator grinder explosion seriously. It was also suspected that it was an act of terror.
